Self Portrait Collage

For this project I had a hard time finding inspiration, but after a few days of putting a base layer on, I decided on the theme of eyes. I believe I executed this well because most of the pictures I had were of eyes. I decided to make my face the focal point of the piece, with the eyes as a secondary image, they are subtle but effective in my opinion. Over all I enjoyed the hands on portion of this project but I was happy that we did get to work on it in photoshop a little bit. It was a fun experience in the end.

Movie Poster Project

For this project, I decided to make a poster for a suspense movie that took place in a post-apocalyptic world. I took a picture of my dad walking through a barren field which, I thought was a good example of a barren world. When editing the picture, I added a levels layer and a vignette to give the picture more contrast and drama. I also added a marble texture and took the opacity down to give the poster a rugged look. Finally I took a picture with dust and blew it up to fit the picture and took the opacity down to give it an “end of the world” feel. I gave the world a slight dark red color and a shadow to make the piece more interesting. All in all I think I did a good job of portraying the genre and mood that I wanted.

Movie Poster Example

I choose to emulate this movie poster because my story is about a post apocalyptic world. My idea had a barren road with a man walking down it. I like this poster, because it is very dramatic, it has a lot of emphasis on the road, with a plain and less dramatic background, the fog adds a nice touch. I think this poster is successful because of how simple it is, but also because of its use of heavy filters on the picture.

Surreal Project

In this project, the theme I was trying to portray was peace. I believe I did a good job of this, firstly by the pictures that I used. I got my sky from one of the skies that Mrs. Bloedel provided for us, I took a picture of a book, because I think of books as peaceful and quiet. I used a picture of a tree with yellow and red leaves because I thought those colors were the most peaceful. The dove that I added brought the picture to life, in my opinion, so that the landscape didn’t seem too dull. I added a vignette to the picture to make the piece seem warmer, I also added a layer filled with a yellow-ish color and brought the opacity down in order to make the whole image seem more peaceful, because yellow is a peaceful color. I added a shadow in the crease of the book to make the whole piece seem more realistic, and I think that my shadows on the dove and the tree also help to prove that same point. Over all I think I did a good job of portraying the feeling of peace, and peacefulness with this project and I am proud of what came out.

Surreal Research Photo

I think that this photo is successful, because it has good unity, and the idea of a field and book really show the same mood of peace. It is also very visually striking. In my surreal image, I would like to emulate the technique of imposing a picture on a book. I think it will really help get my idea across.

Photo Letters Version 2

In this version of my photo letters portrait, I decided to make the letters hard to read. I added my last name and made it very clear in order to draw the eye to it. I added colored squares in purple and green in order to make the letters seem eerie and I made the letters different sizes to make it seem more crazy and unorganized. I think I portrayed my idea well and topped it off with a purple gradient going up and a green gradient going down.

Photo Letters Project Version 1

I used chess pieces for this project because chess is something that I am interested in. I think that I did a good job with unity by using the same pieces for each letter. I also applied the same effect to each picture around the pieces to make the letters stand out. I took all these pictures at the same time of the day to promote unity as well. Instead of putting separate borders on each picture, I used black space in-between each, and aligned them so that it flowed better. I believe I did a good job with actually taking the pictures, and was careful to avoid “noise” and make them focused.
